Episode Eight – How to Make an Octagon Serving Tray

This week I made an octagon serving tray out of pine. I like the shape and material and it looks great with cheese on it, doesn’t everything though. I used raw linseed oil on this to bring out the grain, and a no clamp clamping system. This is a great idea as a gift or to make for yourself.

This is a project that you don’t need many tools for, so get out in the shop and do it today.

Tools Used:

  • Hand saw,
  • Table saw (you could use the hand saw and a mitre box),
  • Sanding implements,
  • Home made clamp (if you have clamps all the better),
  • Glue, and
  • Finishing oil (food grade)

This is a great project to make as a gift and looks very impressive when done. Give it a try.
